AN ACT OF TERROR Takes 2017 VFF AUDIENCE AWARD!

What an amazing showcase this weekend at the 30th Annual Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville, VA. AN ACT OF TERROR held its WORLD PREMIERE before the screening of AN OUTRAGE with Richmond directors Hannah Ayers & Lance Warren.

And to top it all off, WE WON THE AUDIENCE AWARD FOR BEST SHORT NARRATIVE!  We are so honored to be receiving this recognition and APPRECIATE ALL WHO CAME OUT TO VOTE!

Chris Riddle (Producer), Ashley Brim (Director/Co-Writer) & Elizabeth A. Lyons (Producer)

Because of you Virginia Christian’s story has been resurrected.  We hope that generations of audiences will recognize the need for stories like Virgie’s that bring up the tough discussion of social injustice.  Film is the form that can approach these topics with an empathetic approach.  An approach we hope can move minds, as much as hearts.

Karen Reynolds (Ida), Ashley Brim (Director) and Alicia Cuthbertson (Charlotte)

Please help spread the word to have Virgie’s storyFACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM…. The more people know, the higher the chances this short will be screened at a film festival near you!

CONGRATS TO ALL OUR CREW & CAST! And special SHOUT OUT to Ashley Brim & Chris Riddle who brought this piece of #hiddenhistory back to life.  Thank you for including me in the journey.  So proud to have been a part of it.

Billboard 2013!

Wow… it has been way too long since I updated about my adventures!  Let’s see…

April and May 2013 was a very exciting two months.  This year I jumped on board the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas and never imagined how awesome a trip it was!  Out of all the shows so far, this was the most spectacular collaboratively, and getting to work in the office this time too I got to see the process hands on.  Production-wise, I learned a lot and loved the team we had this year.

So what highlights have we?  Well, being a Vegas virgin, it was surely an experience.  Having friends to guide you along the way helps too.  The trip out was… a trip to say the least 🙂  A good laugh in a desert is always a pleasure and coming across these fellas was a good reason to:

First night involved pool side drinks at the MGM Grand and a night on the town.

You ever need an awesome burger, Gordan Ramsey’s I cannot stop raving about.  Besides food and friends there was gambling of course.  Luckily, I only gained more than I lost.  $900 later I called it a week.

Then, came show day:

Samsung was our fabulous sponsor.  Every tablet and phone you saw on screen was charged with care by a helpful team in the back.  In between commercials, we passed out the tablets for the Taylor Swift award reveal.  Seeing that there needed to be some space between mosh pit members, I got to be a  bouncer to hold some of the cast back.  Waiting between segments though, there was another performance before the announcement:

Justin Beiber performing “Take You” at the 2013 Billboard Awards.

Now, I have never considered myself a fan, but once you get to see Mr. Beiber in concert I got to admit: he was pretty cool.  Chill dude, got along with all my friends on set, and refused to lip sync that night while dancing.  Justin, I support.

By the end, the reveal was a success!  Shouts out to BlueWater Technologies and Baltimore-based WhamCity Lights for their collaboration on the tablet reveals and IconaPop song!

The night was a big success for Taylor Swift, Prince had a sick set, and a new favorite song on my playlist, “Merry Go ‘Round” by Kacey Musgraves.  Looking forward to next year and another opportunity to work with this team again.

Taylor Swift wins big!

Prince’s sick set!

Kacey Musgraves “Merry Go ‘Round” was a smash.

TALK MOVIE TO ME!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy holidays from “Christmas in Washington!”

Hey everyone!

Has been a super busy season so far with two fantastic shows now under my belt!  After moving back from Puerto Rico post “Chula” shoot with Ms. Victoria E. Soberal, I jumped right on board the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C.  What a show – worked with the best of the best in television production and was a great tribute to the fabulous talent whose work has shaped our culture and history.

Dustin Hoffman, NataliaMakarova, Buddy Guy, David Letterman and Led Zeppelin.  These artists’ work goes beyond intention – it transmits into legacy.  An honor and a priveledge as always.  Hope I can help next year!

John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin

An honor Mr. Hoffman.

After Kennedy Center Honors, jumped straight into Christmas in Washington that was shot at the National Building Museum in DC.  This time it was fun credentialing time and was behind the scenes with some great talent singing Christmas classics!  And since the event was produced by TNT, got to hang out with some of my favorite Turner Network toons as seen above.  The event was a benefit for the Children’s Memorial Hospital with a lot of kids having the chance to join us for the show having just been released from there.

Things got a little controversial with Psy performing, but think the President was still able to get down with it during the show: http://youtu.be/FB73L8wvm5s

Has been a great 2012 and next stop… the Inauguration!
